I’m still texting a Halacha a day but I’ve stopped using this platform and other platforms. It’s sent on WhatsApp and on text. I can’t publicize it here because it may get into the wrong hands
Hating gifts doesnt apply from parents to kids etc, doesnt apply when theres a mitzva involved (ex shalom bayis, kiruv, keeping the peace) Receiving gifts when making a wedding is a way for the people to help pay for their participation. Shevet Halevi 6:229, Tsh vihanahagos 3:404
When making a bracha we must make sure not to be busy with anything. This means that we shouldnt b serving or pouring foods/drinks or signaling with our hands etc We should just concentrate on understanding and pronouncing the words correctly without being in a rush. Siman 143:12
The Rama says to say Shalom Aleichem at kiddush levana 3 times to one person. However most have the minhag to say it three times to 3 people. If you only have one person to say it to then say it 3 times to that one person. Siman 426:2
One man is not supposed to walk in between two women. Two men can walk in between two women. Some say if the man is holding on to something thats a mitzva while he walks then its not a problem. For ex. Holding onto tzitzis or peyos
Men also have Halachos of tznius that they must adhere to. Their clothing should not be overly flashy or designed to draw attention, and it must be clean and presentable at all times. Its essential that their attire fits in and is as neutral as possible.
The reason to always start with the right side is because everything in the Torah was done with the right (avoda, metzora, chalitza etc.) therefore even lefties are supposed to use the right side first. We also bathe the right side first and carry Seforim in the right arm
When we get dressed were supposed to put start on the right side before the left side. When getting undressed were supposed to start with the left side before the right side because this shows more respect to the right side
Were supposed to have an extra special food on Rosh Chodesh and Shabbos Rosh Chodesh. If one didnt have an special food on Shabbos then an extra special food on for melava malka works even though its no longer Rosh Chodesh
When Yaleh Viyavo is forgotten in Birchas Hamazon on Rosh Chodesh we don’t repeat it because it’s a mitzva to eat a meal but not a requirement. applies even if it was forgotten on Shabbos when theres a requirement to eat a meal. This is because the meal requirement is for Shabbos
The reason why we dont have to review the parsha on Yom Tov or review the extra krias Hatorah for Rosh Chodesh thats on Shabbos (this week) is because it will be reviewed anyway during the year when its normally read
Even those that have gotten a late start to learning Shnayim Mikra should not give up. You can still catch up because the latest time to complete the entire Torah is next Shmini Atzeres. Reading the proper English translation with the pesukim may make it go faster
The reasons why many dont say Tachnun the week after Sukkos is because Tishrei went in with pain so it goes out with happiness or since the majority of the month is holy (even though during aseres yemei teshuva we say tachnun, its still considered holy days)
Scach/lulav/esrog have no inherent holiness after the mitzva has been completed. However its better not to dispose of them in a demeaning way Wrapping them and disposing and/or putting them at curb is fine
The Rama in siman 674 says the left over Hoshanos should be used to fuel the fire to bake matzos. In siman 297, SA says to use the hadasim, if theyre still fragrant, for havdala throughout the year. Similarly were supposed to use the Eruv Tavshilin for Lechem Mishna on Shabbos.
One of the top Halacha misunderstandings: Sukka/decorations being muktza is not like Shabbos. It means muktza not to use for non mitzva purposes. For mitzva purposes it's fine. Therefore, they can be picked up, moved, transferred, put up etc.
The reason why haircuts (nails for Ashkenazim) can't be cut on Chol Hamoed even if we look bad is to force us to make ourselves look good before Yom Tov and not push it off until Chol Hamoed. To try and guarantee this, they didn't allow it even if you cut them before Yom Tov
Even though rice is mezonos, it can be eaten outside of the sukka (sushi) but preferably not if it's a meal. Wine is a big debate, therefore don't drink more than 3.3 oz outside a sukka. However no bracha on the sukka if all you're consuming is wine
Its not a requirement to eat two meals a day. Its a mitzva. Similar to Rosh Chodesh. Therefore one who forget Yaleh viyavo in birchas hamazon doesnt have to repeat. Mezonos is better than nothing. On Yom Tov and Chol Hamoed if one forgets Yaleh viyavo at maariv they must repeat.
