I made a separate account to document my professional journey & post tech-related stuff. I like to ramble a lot and use Twitter as my personal diary, so I feel like I should separate them. @HalasTechWorld Lets go! I want to connect with more #100Devs I love the community ๐ ๐ป
Disappeared for a minute but completed my full-time FS bootcamp while working full-time & managing a pet hotel on the side..๐. Sacrifices were made. So I took care of me with a >2 months coding break, spent time with loved ones. Coming back with a full heart ready to go get! ๐จ
I always had a great passion for learning, even from a young age. Though my biggest weakness has always been my long-term memory, I'm not going to sit back and watch it decline even more as I get older, I'm going to train the hell out of it!
Ahhhh, nothing better than the feeling of working through a long series of never seen bugs that seem to be in Chinese, all by yourself (& your best friend Google), in no time. I'm done with you for now backend - finally reuniting with the front now to learn some React!
I am SO EXCITED! I have some really cool ideas for projects to build. What I did so far (in bootcamp) is so repetitive & I wanted my work to stand out. So I put on my thinking helmet & came up with some ideas that could actually help my friend's business. Can't wait to build!
@izaye_visuals This was the one I read yesterday. It's easy to grasp but it also could have been explained with: "Dependencies are created by someone else & could be updated by that 3rd party at any time, which is why you need package managers to automatically stay up to date & avoid issues".๐
@izaye_visuals Omg yes! I always find it much easier if they just stick to the raw explanation of a concept. It also saves time, like get to the point pleaaaase. I just skip them at this point ๐.
My 1st attempt of doing anything with JavaScript. Dove straight into this project ๐ . Created a Pokรฉmon website that uses an external API. Still need to add more search bar functions to improve the user experience + more info to modals AND beautify but I learnt a lot!
@ELPartanna Oh, for sure! โบ๏ธ Education is always a worthy investment. And the fact that I bought it myself definitely helped me commit in the beginning. Now I'm motivated just by the idea of being part of the industry and being able to build cool stuff! Wish you the best on your journey too!
Leon saying in class 1 that "I got got" because I was told I needed to pay for a bootcamp to find a job in FAANG or even get into the tech industry felt โจpersonalโจ haha! I wish I found him before sacrificing everything I had to buy my bootcamp.
You'd be crazy if you choose not to take advantage of being part of a community.
Lastly, EVERYONE FAILS. No one cares - But then again, you should. As long as you don't quit, you don't fail. You didn't even delay winning. You're learning with every loss and that's a damn win.
When I started my bootcamp, I was determined to keep my tech journey myself. Why? Well...in case I fail. *A moment of silence for Hala's brain please*..I realised 2 things: 1) I'm an idiot & 2) It's counterproductive. A short thread ๐งต...
Our habits are shaped by our identity (& vice versa) - partly the person we talk to in our heads every day (or out loud like me) & the one we share with the world - And we know that being part of a group that shares the identity we desire, will strengthen our own automatically.
@TommiEng Still in it, finish Aug! Just started Node.js & did some projects. But I'm not happy enough..want more hands-on-practice & the real teacher/class aspect was missing, it's mostly just text-based self-study..the list goes on but I'm hoping I can get the best of both worlds now ๐.
