My little sister, Alyssum in life and forever my Dragon in death. A random seizure took her, and her unborn second son. It hasn't been longer than two years, because it simply couldn't be, and yet what a decade those two years have been.
Almost four years since the platonic love of my life od'd on fentanyl that was deceptively sold to her on the street as something else.
I forgave her, my God, because somebody had to cry at that funeral.
Ten years since my best childhood friend died in my living room in an act I can only describe as a spite-suicide. I never forgot or forgave it. Her or myself.
Yesterday I cut myself grating cheese. I wanted to blame somebody else, but then I remembered that with grate power comes grate responsibility.
#NotSorry
a woman speaking about a cause she believes in is a "little brat" who "needs to just go home" because she's not an expert in the topic, but we're all just ok with some bald sex offender telling us how the ideal man is supposed to be? like, he's not an expert in his field either😳
There's not much information out there for when you realize you're toxic and want to change your habits. Most of the advice is aimed at functional people with normal brains, focusing on getting AWAY from toxic people. Which is fair. But.
I don't want any of her friends to think of her death as some terrible thing. We're #deathpositive in our little circle. It wasn't a suicide; it was, however, something she welcomed. She went gracefully and on her own terms. I wish it would have been different, but it's all good.
She was, she still is, so much to so many of us. She became the whole world's annoying little sister in 2016 when she joined Twitter. When she was finally disillusioned by 2019, she became the Dragon. Twitter saw it first, but it crossed over into real life too.
To the optimist, the glass is half full. To the pessimist, the glass is half empty. To the industrial engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.
