When the AI literacy session in Odo-Ijesa ended, Olori Abosede Oni stood to give the vote of thanks. As one of the community's women leaders, she'd sat through the whole afternoon, and the part that resonated with her the most was what it could save her.
She'd been paying others to handle the digital side of her work, including design and the rest of it, the tasks you hand off when you can't do them yourself. The training showed her she could do that work herself now, for less, and without waiting on anyone.
The session was run by facilitators from Odo-Ijesa itself, community members BBYDI had trained, now teaching their own neighbours. Working in the local language, they took participants through Gemini, ChatGPT, Grok, and Canva, how to recognise misinformation, and how to check whether something is true before passing it on.
Mr Gbenga Ajayi, a business owner, said it was the local language that made the training stick for him. He left planning to put the tools to work in his own business.

Education is our right, but for millions of children in Nigeria, it is still out of reach.
Despite growing needs, education funding remains far below global benchmarks. In 2025, Nigeria allocated just about 4–7% of its national budget to education, far below the 15–20% recommended for developing countries.
This Global Action Week for Education, we join voices across the world to demand change.
To demand investment.
To demand accountability.
Hold the flame high because education for all.

Style met purpose on the red carpet.
GBV Prevention Statewide Event, Kwara.
This was more than a moment for photos. It was a gathering of people who believe in safer communities. A gathering of people ready to speak, listen, and act. From the red carpet to the main hall, the message remain the same. Ending gender-based violence requires all of us.

When we launched the National Essay Competition on AI Literacy in March, we expected interest. We didn't expect 445 applications from 342 institutions across Nigeria.
The March edition of The BBYDI Brief unpacks what that response tells us, plus our IWD training for women entrepreneurs and what's coming on April 9 when traditional leaders gather in Ilorin for a statewide convening on GBV prevention.

your story matters and will go a long way in helping another mama feel seen and less alone.
I would also appreciate it if you could share this with your circle or network.
Thank you so much 💜
The form takes about 10 minutes to complete.
Motherhood often humbles us in ways we don’t expect. Many of us begin breastfeeding with hope and love, only to face doubt, exhaustion, and quiet tears yet finding strength along the way.
Please, I am kindly asking for your help in gathering these stories by taking a few minutes to fill out this form: https://t.co/GK12lMmU5T
Please share your story just as it is, messy, tender, painful, fun, smooth, challenging etc.
I’m sharing this with a heavy heart. My mum has been battling a severe spinal condition for over five years. Despite undergoing surgery in 2020, her condition worsened, leaving her completely bedridden and at risk of total paralysis without urgent corrective surgery.
You can also reach out to us, her daughters: Mariam Olufade on 08062060066 or Halimat Olufade on 08063589052 for any questions or inquiries.
Every share, prayer, and contribution truly matters. 🙏🏽
Thank you very much.
