I’m thrilled to share a special project that’s close to my heart—a painting I created of the stunning California Rose saddle, a remarkable collaboration by the Traditional Cowboy Arts Association (TCAA). This piece was inspired by a photo shared by Craig Rullman, who graciously gave me permission to paint it. When I reached out, he enthusiastically said, “Yes,” and even shared that he’d produced a documentary about this extraordinary saddle. To mark the 25th Annual Traditional Cowboy Arts Association Exhibition & Sale, the TCAA’s 13 active members, along with one emeritus member, poured their craftsmanship into creating a traditional Visalia-style saddle and outfit, complete with a braided rawhide riata, quirt, and hobbles. Named The California Rose, this saddle is a testament to their artistry and dedication to preserving cowboy traditions. The saddle will be auctioned live during the TCAA Exhibition & Sale Weekend on Saturday night, September 28, 2025, at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.
