In litigation, you play the hand you're dealt. The courts dictate how the Constitution is interpreted and what lines of argument are in play. That is the way it's supposed to work.

In the legislative branch, you get to stack the deck. You get to force your lawmakers to back away from laws you don't like by engaging and confronting them (and replacing them if they won't listen).

This is why it's not only a mistake to look to the courts to save you from gun control, it's also a cop-out and an abdication of responsibility. In America, we have government by the consent of the governed. That means the buck stops with the citizen. This means you.

If I ever have to engage an active shooter with my carry pistol, I look forward to all the self-described gun experts criticizing my gun, shoes, shirt, hat, stance, ammo, number of hits or misses, the weather, the pants I have on, what kind of vehicle I drove that day, and what colored underwear I wore.

There's so much negativity going around about this cat it's unreal. "Terrible training, his gun was sub par,why didn't he use cover, he didn't even hit the shooter, etc, etc...."
Y'all need to step back and reevaluate. Yes some things could have been done better, but this guy stepped out on the two way range and engaged in a gunfight. Just that act alone redirected the shooters attention off of killing, to self preservation. He should be celebrated for saving lives.
