I’m grieving the deaths of the two Israeli soldiers killed in Hebron today, and praying for the full & speedy recovery of those who were injured.
I’ve spoken out loudly this week against Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, which imposes violence on a daily basis, and I will continue to do so. But violence is not the path to ending it — or to achieving safety, freedom, and peace for both Palestinians and Israelis.
And neither is collective punishment or ethnic cleansing of an entire neighborhood, or punishing millions of people for the criminal act of two, which Netanyahu has promised to enact in response.
I’ve seen a lot this week and I’ll have more to say about in the coming days (I’m on my way home shortly). There is a path to ending this excruciating cycle of violence. It starts by insisting that every life is sacred, that everyone is created in God’s image.
For now: Shabbat Shalom, to everyone who believes in the hard work of making peace & justice a reality, for everyone.
Every voice saying "Mamdani can't do X action related to Palestine" is really saying "Mamdani can't do anything within the boundaries of an ethical framework that I've constructed based on my inherent American chauvinism." People are dying, that warrants anything
What’d I say would happen? A politician goes to the West Bank, gets arrested knowing he’ll be safely released, then turns the moment into thousands of likes. But Palestinians defending their own land? They get imprisoned for years, abused in unimaginable ways, killed and forgotten. Brad had power back home. He could’ve divested NYC pensions from the bombs killing Palestinians. He chose not to. Stop confusing political theater with solidarity. Stop letting politicians turn Palestinian suffering into a photo op. For god sakes, I’m sick of these devils.
Is this the new LARP? American politicians flying to the West Bank to cosplay as defenders of Palestinians while supporting the very institutions that make settler violence possible in the first place?
Brad Lander, we didn’t need you to fly to Palestine and get into a scuffle with settlers to prove you’re an ally. We needed you to stop investing our money in Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer, while it profited from the genocide of our people. We needed you to stop proudly identifying as a Zionist while condemning Palestinian resistance.
Palestinians don’t need your performative solidarity. We need you to stop supporting our oppressors.
And those who stand with Palestine cannot allow these gestures to buy our trust, erase politicians’ records, or earn them our votes. A photo op in the West Bank does not absolve anyone of their complicity.
Our standards for solidarity with Palestinian liberation cannot be lowered just because politicians have learned how to perform it.
@NerdeenKiswani I’m also reading this move from the “Elbit Left” as a common tactic used by liberal Zionists to distance themselves from settlers when we all know the IDF still supplies them anyways!
This is from an episode of Law & Order SVU 26 years ago where they casually claim that 75% of all murders in Gaza and the West Bank were honor killings. Just making up insane statistics about Palestinians and passing them off as facts on national television. Imagine how much of this bullshit Americans have been fed for decades.
whole bunch of people who just don’t understand boycotts or BDS upset?? with House House? They made a decision that is a net positive, but nothing can ever be good enough can it. something something dont let perfect be the enemy of good… like come on..
obama doesn't get enough contempt for the israeli atrocities he facilitated during his administration and foundation he laid for the years afterward. softening our retrospect normalizes the evil he perpetuated and dismissing that is ethically gross
You got Martin Shkreli owning the exclusive album, Raekwon visiting Palantir in 2010 and 2026, and now this shit.
As Cappadonna said in Winter Warz, “PLO Style got thrown out the car”
Yeah, this is the reality, AI-only code is everywhere and only spreading. Unless it starts producing utter disasters in the gaming space, you can bet most developers aren't going to keep human-producing code on moral grounds. Sucks but like, I don't know what else can happen
GenAI art and stuff is a different class as that is easier to physically spot and often clearly sucks. But all that has to do is clear the "normies" and it will soon be good enough for many regardless. Or you will just simply never know how much it was used behind the scenes
Not to be bleak but it all feels like a losing battle on multiple fronts (many such cases in like, dozens of industries, of course)
Wanna-be AI evangelists like David use this rhetoric to avoid the most powerful criticisms that consumers and businesses can share on AI: privacy, ownership, efficacy, and artificial stickiness.
Seems we are past the nonsensical fever dream hatred of using AI to create. Appeasing the spiteful minority with pledges to not use AI will be looked back upon as a very poor and uninformed decision. Or more likely, those opposing AI now will simply go quiet and move on
