“I thought it was a good idea for my development to play this last part of the season with Bridgeport...BU is a great spot, and I was going to be in a good position either way.”

Here’s what Head Coach Jay McKee had to say about his confidence in Josh Kotai:

#Isles #HammerTime
Hamilton Head Coach Jay McKee on his confidence in Josh Kotai after a tough start:

“I'm proud of Josh. It's a tough game for him to go into. Number one, any time a team raises a banner from the season prior, they're going to have a lot of juice behind them, a lot of excitement early on. We didn't help him enough in the first period. I'm not a fan of pulling goalies. I wanted to see if he could dig in and stick with it, and he did. That's a credit to him. I'm glad that he stayed in and played as well as he did.”

Hamilton Forward Liam Foudy on how getting on the scoreboard early in the season has helped build confidence:

“That first game was an overall great team effort, and a lot of guys got on the board, and I think that's just huge for everyone's confidence. We didn't get off to the best start tonight, but I think that confidence from that game kind of let us not give up and try to make a push back in the game.”

Here is what Mitchell Chaffee had to say post game:

⬇️⬇️⬇️

[Kenny Kaminsky @KennyKaminsky]

#Isles #HammerTime
Hamilton’s Mitchell Chaffee on scoring the first goal and getting the first win in Hammers history:

“I mean, obviously, it’s a collective kind of team thing, so I wouldn’t say that it was just me, but obviously I think we played well tonight. As coming into a new team, you don’t know what to expect, especially with new line mates and new systems and stuff. I thought we played well tonight, and it was exciting to kind of get that first win.”

Hamilton head coach Jay McKee on Vitek Vanecek’s outstanding performance:

“I thought Van was incredible. He made not just that glove save that was the highlight-reel save, but he made a lot of saves that took away the momentum that Belleville could have picked up with a couple of goals. He was a huge part of the win tonight, for sure.”
