Atta bhai as you know every single fact in my tweet is correct. You say I distorted facts but weren’t able to point to a single fact that was wrong. However you skipped some facts in your reply, facts that are crucial to government’s role in helping the sugar industry, making sugar more expensive and then importing and now re-exporting the same sugar at lower prices and losing foreign exchange.

1) I said the government’s decision to export sugar (given only after replacing Musadik Malik sb with Ishaq Dar sb from the committee chair position) increased price in the local market by Rs 50. This is true, right?
2) I said the government decided to import through TCP and not private sector and TCP imported at higher prices than the prevailing international market price. This is true, right?
3) TCP sold the sugar to local retailers and industry forcibly, with the help of IB and FBR officials at higher prices. FBR even disallowed local sugar mills to sell to TCP’s potential customers so they are forced to buy from TCP. All of this is true, right?
4) TCP still couldn’t sell all the sugar it bought and now has to re-export at a loss in foreign exchange. This is also true, right?
5) I am sure FBR, as you say, collected more tax from sugar. This is primarily because the sales tax on sugar is 18% and once the price increases by Rs 50 per kg, FBR collects Rs 9 per kg extra. Also your government introduced excise tax on sugar consuming industry. And finally yes FBR’s Track and Trace has reduced sales tax evasion by the sugar industry.
6) See the facts for the government are so embarrassing (to say the least) that there is no need for anyone in opposition to distort them.

Just a small personal comment. You wrongly accuse me of “distortion” and “misleading people”. You used to call me Miftah bhai but now you are calling me Mr Ismail. Atta bhai governments come and go. One shouldn’t stop acting with grace. There are, I must admit, so many people in Noon who argue with grace, people like Ahsan Iqbal (@betterpakistan), Awais Leghari, @akleghari, @AliPervaiz450, @DrMusadikMalik, and the list goes on.
