Statement from Scholars of the Ummah Regarding the Ongoing War in the Gulf Region

All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his companions.

To proceed:

In light of the dangerous escalation and severe tension currently witnessed in the region, which has reached the level of the bombardment of the capitals of regional states, and in fulfilment of the covenant that Allah has taken from the scholars to clarify the truth, we — the scholars, callers to Islam, and workers for the religion from among the sons of this Ummah — declare the following:

First: The reality of this war and its objectives

America and its Zionist allies have no motive for this war except injustice.

Iran has not wronged them nor attacked them; rather, what they are doing is oppression and aggression, which they have repeatedly committed before when they invaded Afghanistan, Iraq, and other lands — actions that constitute injustice and tyranny forbidden by all divine laws.

This war is, in essence, a Crusader-Zionist war whose ultimate consequences target Islam in its very heart, and the Muslim Ummah at its core — where the Islamic sanctities, the resources of the Ummah, its wealth, its demographic weight, and its historical and civilizational depth are located.

This war is not merely a limited conflict arising from a temporary political disagreement between Iran on one side and America and the occupying state on the other.

Rather, it is one link in a chain of wars, part of a long history of conflict, not an isolated event nor a separate incident.

Second: The divine wisdom behind such events regardless of any interpretation of what is taking place, any analysis of what is occurring, or any reading of current developments, the believer affirms that divine wisdom lies behind every event and every affair.

Perhaps Allah, through these events, is preparing great matters and praiseworthy outcomes, if the Muslims deal with them properly and fulfill their duty toward them: “Perhaps you dislike something while it is good for you.”

However, the believer’s awareness of divine decree, the unseen dimension, and the wisdom of Allah behind all affairs does not contradict fulfilling the religious duty, which requires understanding events, being aware of realities, and acting upon what is obligatory in light of them.

Third: Condemnation and rejection of the aggression

What America and its ally, the Zionist entity, have carried out in the form of bombing cities, sites, and military and civilian targets — beginning in Iran, and we do not know where it will end — is one of the clearest forms of aggression and tyranny that characterize their policy toward Islam and the Muslims.

It is a policy that casts aside all heavenly laws, earthly values, human ethics, international laws, and human conventions which they claim to uphold and speak about.

The least that is required in this situation is to condemn this aggression and reject this crime.

At the same time that we recognize the nature of the Iranian regime’s project and what it has committed in Sunni Muslim lands, we also see that targeting Iran by the Crusader-Zionist alliance is an external attack against a Muslim country whose sanctity and importance must be respected, regardless of the system that rules it.
Just as we reject and condemn the Crusader-Zionist aggression against Iran, we also strongly reject the targeting of the Arab Gulf states by Iran.

Had Iran directed its strikes toward the depth of the occupying entity, that would have been a legitimate response to aggression and a relief for the hearts of the believers.

America deliberately places military bases in the Gulf states in order to provoke Iran into striking those bases, so that those states will respond to Iran, igniting war among the countries of the region in a way that serves the interests of the enemies.
