cult shit at the White House as Trump's cronies give him a standing ovation for minutes on end. Note how nobody wants to be the first to stop clapping.
I voted no on the so-called “Stop Insider Trading Act.”
Not because I believe government officials should be allowed to trade stocks. I don’t.
But this bill doesn’t fully ban that.
Members of Congress could still own and sell stocks, and the restrictions don’t apply to the biggest stock trader in our government—the President of the United States.
Meanwhile, Republicans added parts of the SAVE Act to it, which would make it more difficult for millions of Americans to vote.
If Republicans really cared about banning stock trading by members of Congress and other senior government officials, they could have brought forward a straightforward bipartisan bill that had a real chance of becoming law.
Instead, they chose to play politics, making it less likely that a meaningful stock trading ban will become law and more likely the current broken system will be left in place.
I’m old enough to remember when Republicans were losing their minds that a Muslim was being elected to head NYC just 25 years after 9/11. Now they are literally handing nuclear secrets and technology to the country that raised the attackers because Trump’s family is bought and paid for by the Saudi Royal family. This corruption is beyond measure and the Republican Congress is screaming about “communists” and threatening Cuba.
Reporter: Isn’t there concern that this slippery slope to socialism inevitably ends up as full-blown communism?
AOC: I mean, no. I think that’s very silly. We can’t even raise the minimum wage. Do they really think communism is going to happen? No. They’re trying to scare people because they don’t want us talking about the fact that we all have a right to health care.
So they want to call everything they don’t like communist because if people actually wake up to the fact that their elected officials are screwing them over when they get here, they’re going to realize they deserve better and that health care as a right isn’t crazy. They want to call this stuff communist because they don’t want us to realize that the rest of the developed world has guaranteed health care. They want to call it communist because they don’t want you to know that Germany, Italy, the UK, Canada—everybody else—has it better than us, and we spend the most money for the worst care in the developed world.
Jared Kushner holds no government position.
Yet he is our Middle East Envoy.
The Saudis have paid him $100M and invested $2B in his firm.
He pushed for Saudi nuclear enrichment over the objection of national security officials.
Today his father-in-law made it happen.
But what about my paintings…
Massie: They're also required to come to us after 90 days, and we're well past 90 days. Now, the president's lawyers acknowledge this reality because they've pretended to stop the war at the 90 day point and then started again. They're in violation of the law.
This is absurd. I am as big an anti-communist as you get, but the risk today is not that the US is turning into a communist country - the risk is that is it turning into a fascist country.
Ten years of being told Trump has a great healthcare plan and is two weeks from telling us all about it. There is no healthcare plan, there never was, there never will be.
As long as I live, I’ll never comprehend how our country could go on like it’s no big deal this abject fool is our president. Yeah, Trump’s crazy. But our electorate choosing him twice? Congress rolling over for him? Media normalizing him? That is utter insanity.
Correcting the Record: your shitty, watered-down bill is a bandaid on a bullet hole. It does NOT ban stock trading. It bans Members of Congress from *BUYING* stocks but not *SELLING* them. Nice loophole. 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Oh and of course it does NOTHING to prevent the corrupt crooks at the @WhiteHouse from cashing in on insider information. We need a REAL ban on stock trading. NOW!
