We’re an international charity that bridges policy and action on North Korea through refugee resettlement, policy development and advocacy, and education.
We did it.
For the past 8 years, HanVoice has been advocating for a historic policy that allows Canadians to privately sponsor and resettle North Korean refugees.
Today, that policy is a reality. #FreeToDream

Reception on the occasion of the #UNGA High-Level Meeting on DPRK #HumanRights situation (May 20), co-hosted by the permanent mission of ROK and a global coalition of 30 civil society organizations
"I strongly believe that when the human rights abuses in #NorthKorea stop, its illegal nuclear program will also stop."
"I hope you and your colleagues will continue to speak out. This is how change will eventually come to North Korea. And one day, the North Korean people will regain their freedom."
@UNSR_DPRK@HanVoice
Today (May 20), the #UNGA held the first-ever High-Level Meeting specifically dedicated to #DPRK#HumanRights situation. Following the statements by Special Rapporteur on the DPRK human rights situation @UNSR_DPRK and representatives from civil society (@committeehrnk, @HanVoice), two escapees from #NorthKorea – Eunju Kim and Gyuri Kang - provided vivid and heartbreaking testimonies.
Ambassador Joonkook Hwang expressed deep concern over the ongoing gross human rights violations in NK, emphasizing that, if human rights violations in NK stop, nuclear weapons development will also stop. He also strongly urged North Korea to immediately resolve all the cases of abductees, unrepatriated prisoners of war, and detainees, including the prompt release of three Korean missionaries—KIM Jung Wook, KIM Kook Kie and CHOI Chun Gil—and that all Member States respect the principle of non-refoulement.
Yesterday the #GeneralAssembly held a high-level plenary meeting to address the #HumanRights abuses and violations in the #DPRK - we thank all speakers for their striking testimonies.
