I'm horrified by news that a supplier of weapons to the Myanmar military allegedly paid two Myanmar nationals to harm or kill UN Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun in New York in a plot to pressure him to relinquish his post. Who was behind this outrage and who will hold them accountable?
#Myanmar can't breathe. The military junta lacks the legitimacy and capacity to confront the #COVID19 crisis engulfing the country. The junta is unable to govern or respond appropriately to this public health emergency.
Update: The Japanese embassy in Myanmar says to provide 700 oxygen concentrators through UNOPS operations and 14 ambulances to healthcare providers in Myanmar as emergency assistance for Covid-19 outbreak.

Today I learned more about the arrest & torture of Hlan Phyo Aung, a protester whose hand and legs were shot while in custody. Denied medical treatment, he is now facing the loss of his sight and leg. His abuse must end and emergency medical treatment must begin immediately.
Human rights defenders are under siege in Myanmar. The violent abduction of Man Zar Myay Mon (pictured below) on June 8 in Sagaing is the most recent example. The junta must assure the safety of this community leader and that of every other person unlawfully detained in Myanmar.
