On this #WorldFoodSafetyDay, we are reminded of the significance of safe food in eliminating foodborne diseases, protecting public health, and sustainable development. Most of the foodborne illnesses are preventable through stronger systems relying on data driven action, collective commitment and collaboration across all sectors of our society.
We remain firmly committed to ensuring that all food consumed in our nation is safe, nutritious, and trustworthy. Key government initiatives include the formulation of regulations under the Food Safety Act, strengthening border food control measures, and building national technical capacity for food safety monitoring and testing.
Today, we also stand in solidarity with communities in crises, including Gaza, where unsafe food and contaminated water deepen human suffering.
