Urgent Concern: Eritrean Refugees in Libya

We are closely monitoring the mistreatment and brutality faced by Eritrean refugees and others in Libya. The ongoing violations against innocent people arbitrary detentions, abuse, and inhumane treatment must stop immediately. We call on Libyan authorities to uphold human rights protect vulnerable refugees and put an end to these cruel practices.

Additionally the Eritrean Embassy in Libya must take urgent action to protect its citizens and fulfill its responsibility toward them.

نراقب عن كثب الانتهاكات والمعاملة الوحشية التي يتعرض لها اللاجئون الإريتريون وغيرهم في ليبيا. يجب أن تتوقف هذه الانتهاكات ضد الأبرياء فورًا، بما في ذلك الاعتقالات التعسفية وسوء المعاملة والظروف اللاإنسانية. ندعو السلطات الليبية إلى احترام حقوق الإنسان، وحماية اللاجئين، ووضع حد لهذه الممارسات القمعية.

@bright_tes85414 @AtieWedi @_AfricanUnion Sncs were in 2009/11 -2018( not for 25yrs)& targeted Arms emabrgo,asset freez, diaspora tax and travel. Swift exlcusion was in nov 2021. Inept leadership had done more damage than sanctions wedi hawoboy.

Instead of pointing fingers now& then, wld have been better to work on something tangible, which among many other things: building strong state institutions domestically and robust relationship with the neighbouring countries.
