I don't think this is right at all, we do understand how LLMs work it's just that we don't know why they work so well

An LLM is basically a mutlitdemensial image of human language that reflects back the most likely result of the input, this is not like thought at all

This response isn’t technically accurate. Pre-training leads to stochastic parrots. Post training ALSO generates stochastic parrots. The harnesses are mostly just loops, so it’s now a gaggle of stochastic parrots.

It might not be strictly next token prediction anymore, but it is still just statistically pairing inputs with a guessed output. There is no understanding or reasoning or abstraction or any thinking of any sort.

It is a statistical regression. Always has been, always will be.
