@SenMarkey Shame the Dems also oversaw the largest expansion of oil exploration in decades, and a dramatic increase in energy consumption, completely wiping out all the gains made in green energy. Cant back wind, and also let server farms litter the countryside.
@shin_nyo_sui@Sasha_CA @JStein_WaPo @lwoodhouse Again, most folks *noticed* the housing pool being decimated bc they suddenly wanted to move, which covid was a spur for. The housing pool was already being consumed and warehoused.
@shin_nyo_sui@Sasha_CA @JStein_WaPo @lwoodhouse That's correct - it also happened long before covid, with the march of wealth from the poor to the rich. There was SO much pooled wealth at the top, at the end of Obama's time in office, that's why they started doing things like 'buying up all the single family homes'.
@neilojim1972@sineadsiobhan@EddieKelly67@BBCSportWales Yes, that's why I emphasized *further*. There were official punishments, then there were social stigmas, and there was an abiding concern for many of being targeted by the state again.
The African Union’s health watchdog says it has endorsed an #mpox test from #Morocco, hailing it as a “major milestone” to help combat the outbreak on the continent.

@neilojim1972@sineadsiobhan@EddieKelly67@BBCSportWales Yeah, the Irish soldiers who deserted wound up on the starvation order. They were political scapegoats, and lived their lives in fear of *further* retribution. i.e. there was formal punishment, then a life of stigma.
@Sasha_CA@shin_nyo_sui @JStein_WaPo @lwoodhouse Because when the government gives direct financial support to a thing - be it a person, or an industry - they thrive. Our entire governing principle is built around stimulus - it is only labeled as a bad thing when the money accidentally goes to working people.
@Sasha_CA@shin_nyo_sui @JStein_WaPo @lwoodhouse Also, the *vast* majority of PPP loans were given out to wealthy people and businesses - the program was, like TARP before it, a slush fund for banks and the wealthy disguised as vital aid for working class people. And wealthy people, banks, and corporations have *thrived*.
@SeanGrandePBP I've never seen them like this - no energy at all. They arent jumping for rebounds, there's no crash, when guys bother to set screens, no one actually uses them. Can you recall a team this...disinterested?
This isnt about physical ability, mind you - it's about relatable experience, and being led by people who lived lives recognizable to working people. It's about shared language around things like 'need', 'work', and even, like, 'happiness', or 'safety'.
By my calculations, it has been 20 years since both candidates for the office of President of the United States could convincingly throw a baseball to a child.
It's been 40 years since both candidates could be counted on to do their own taxes, and maybe fix the hinge on a door.
The *vast* majority of people running our country could not be trusted to make themselves breakfast, or drive themselves to the grocery store, if they even knew where one was.
