@jubunnies It’s not that they don’t care, it’s that they’ve received the message from government and the rest of society that it’s ok not to mask anywhere anymore. Individuals explaining that masking is still important simply isn’t enough.
@jubunnies I agree that I wish people would keep masking in public indoor spaces that people NEED to be in. It’s very hard for most people to go against the social norm, and I don’t blame them for not having the willpower to do it. I blame public health for failing to normalize masking
@graceclarke It is simultaneously the best and worst thing I’ve ever done. I love my kid more than anything and find watching him grow up and become a good and interesting person very very fulfilling AND modern American society has made the whole process extra difficult and unpleasant
@JohnathanPerk @JawadPullin Yes. I went to super racially diverse public schools as a kid, and I was really shocked by the homogeneity of college. I still notice it and feel uncomfortable. I usually point it out to whomever I’m talking to at the event, and almost always, they say they didn’t notice.

34 percent of Harvard students are white. 43 percent of those students are either legacies, children of faculty, kin of donors or a recruited athlete. 75 percent of them would not have gotten in if not for special status (National Bureau of Economic Research).
But when in doubt, blame the Black people!
The direction of the GOP is clear:
-ending abortion access because not enough “stock” of babies.
-ending affirmative action which primarily benefits white women.
-signaling an end to no-fault divorce.
Are y’all not getting it yet?
I just learned that the American serving size of pasta is only 56g!!! That’s not enough to feed a toddler. The serving size in Italy is 100g per person.
Let’s talk about Black physicians (5% of all physicians). We have statistically lower MCAT and Step scores. However, Black physicians taking care of Black patients decreases mortality. If we let less Black applicants into medical school, more patients will die.
Period.
@thatnrselife Furthermore, perhaps the care provider should provide the whole school community with nutritional information, good alternatives, perhaps a free course on picky eating, and resources for free nutritious food. That would be more effective than shaming the parents
@thatnrselife I think that is very very wrong and bad. Shaming parents for the food they send is a terrible idea that is also likely classist. If they are genuinely concerned that a kid is overall not getting the nutrition they need they should suggest the family speak with their pediatrician
