Prime Minister Luxon says this constantly but it is not correct. Farmers cannot of course influence the weather, but politicians can indeed influence the media.

They do it by bribing them. As we saw most starkly when Jacinda Ardern was the Prime Minister.

Although we all hope such events are no longer happening, they are. Taxpayer money is still being fed to media by various means and this undoubtedly reflects on their political reporting.

The one big question overshadowing this election is not being asked. That is "How much taxpayer money has Labour agreed (behind the scenes) to give to media if they are elected?"

The answer to this question could also explain why media are not (as the PM suggests) subjecting amorphous Labour policy to any real scrutiny.

A real leader might ask this important question, even at the risk of irritating media.

Voters should know if bribery by Labour or any other source is influencing (and thereby perverting) the election.
