With me being out of the charity sector and into the civil service, I’ve also made the move to Bluesky.
Catch me over there @ hannahpoll, if you like

🚨Survey alert 🚨
We want to understand the UK charity sector’s response to Israel’s violence in Palestine + the ongoing destruction of Gaza.
The sector’s silence is loud, and the consequences of their hypocrisy are devastating.

🚨🚨🚨 THE ICJ THINKS SITUATION COULD GET WORSE BEFORE FINAL VERDICT HAS BEEN HANDED DOWN. COURT CONSIDERS URGENCY (real and imminent risks...) THEREFORE CONCLUDES THAT THE CONDITIONS FOR PROVISIONAL MEASURES ARE MET 😭😭😭
These proposals are unacceptable. The number of people unable to work due to their diabetes is at a record high. We need more support for people with long-term health conditions during a cost-of-living crisis - not less. 🧵

We've been spending the past couple of days at Labour Party Conference 👋
Our wonderful Campaign Champions have talked to MPs, councillors and the public about our Manifesto.

V grateful I made it through the door for this!
Raising incomes is an essential + frankly obvious part of preventing health conditions like t2 diabetes & breaking the health inequalities cycle.
Glad we at @DiabetesUK are among those calling for an essentials guarantee.
This is the queue for the JRF / Trussell Trust event on Food banks at the Labour Party conference. Very clearly seen as a priority topic.
See below for a thread on what the talk covered 👇🏽
@emmatranter_ Hi Emma, I'm about to post a proper ad for rooms in my house in Hackney available from mid-Sept - rent's £780 and there are 3 rooms going (landlord upped rent to this so circumstances are such that this nudged other people out). Feel free to DM if you're keen for more info!
Had to give a very awkward but charismatic series of answers about how I’m not actually that into cinema, just something a bit daft to do for the sake of it/to say I did it + what I AM into is leftism, military history, and nuclear disarmament
Lost the tweet by someone else which made me think of it, but one of the great ironies of gov lines re: private renting being about competition and ideas around tenants being able to rate landlords to "drive up" standards is that we still don't have a National Landlord Register
There are many reasons why I think the above rating system/consumer choice angle is, frankly, stupid and insulting to renters, including how it deliberately obscures power imbalances and a lack of rights, but that feels like a particularly glaring reason why it's such a crap idea
My landlord is increasing our rent by 13%. There is no mortgage on the property, and the reasoning we’ve had from the letting agents is that he’s following what other landlords are doing by going for at least 10%.
Rent controls and an end to no fault evictions NOW.
Note: goes without saying but it’s really important that you be proactively clean and tidy, and respect that this isn’t a big party/afters house (think social and having the odd party for events and occasions that tend to be over nearer 12/1 + friends round for dinner & drinks)
ATTN London renters: looking to fill a couple of rooms in a house in zone 2 East London!
We’re a queer household and prioritising trans people and PoC for rooms.
Rent is due to go up to £780, but we’re trying to negotiate to keep it at/near £680.
Xena included!
