@jbgraeber if you haven’t read it, in Tell Me More, Kelly Corrigan includes a eulogy where a man compares the loss of his wife to the Apollo 13 mission. It’s stunning
@Derek_Worch Grateful for every little bit of help in making a fun, peaceful, organized space for my class of Title 1 2nd graders to learn—and learn who they are ♥️

Raising women to imagine they can’t experience joy without marriage does so much work for patriarchy. As does giving them the impression that they have a shallow spirituality if they aren’t doing the real work of child-bearing/rearing. Thanks to those who tell a different story.
So many believe that they must either silence their emotions or make them supreme.
They must be everything or nothing.
The Psalms showcase a better way: We are invited to bring our emotional life into the presence of God.
To invite Him to keep us as He puts them in order.
I wish we would stop saying “just friends,” as if romantic relationships were the only ones that mattered. Life is so much more rewarding when you stop seeing other people as prospective sexual partners and discover the joys of deep friendship.
@johnmilbank3 The kids in my community are just as much my neighbors as their parents. I’ve thought for a long time that if I’m ever planning a wedding, I want to make it super clear I WANT them there—outbursts and noise and joy and all.
I have a great, clear, kind boss now (for the past 3 years); but I have to remind myself before every meeting with her, “she’s given me no reason to be afraid or anxious”—because of years of men *not* doing the things on this list. And I have to wear a night guard.
It matters.
