🦋💊🌸This is a theory that gets discussed from time to time, but I’ve always liked the interpretation that because Shinobu’s very first strike was a poison injection through Doma’s left eye, his body ultimately began to crumble from that same left side.

Kanao attacked from Doma’s left, which had become his blind spot. But what if both of his eyes had still been functioning perfectly at that moment? He might have seen through her attack and avoided it. In that case, he could have continued using his Blood Demon Art, prolonging the battle considerably. And in the process, Kanao might have pushed the Vermilion Eye to its limit and lost her sight.

What interests me is the chain of events that follows from that possibility.

If Kanao had lost her vision, would she have been able to save Tanjiro? At the very least, bringing him back to humanity within such a short span of time—without compromising his dignity—would have been extraordinarily difficult.

That is why Kanao’s words in that scene carry even greater weight:

"So this is why you left my eyes to me, Sister."

The medicine used on Tanjiro to turn him back into a human was originally created by Shinobu. She was a seeker of vengeance, but she was also a savior.

If we view this sequence as a single chain of cause and effect, then Shinobu’s resolve to lay down her life in order to defeat Doma did not end with revenge alone. Her poison weakened Doma, her sacrifice gave Kanao a chance to win, and her medicine ultimately brought Tanjiro back to humanity.

The theme of “passing things on” or “connecting one life to another,” which Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba returns to again and again, is vividly alive within this chain of causality.

I love tanjiro but i think this'll be a nice little twist & break from seeing the MC over and over again.
