Three years ago I taught a semester-long course centered on The Pleasures of Probability, and I still recommend it to every student curious about the art of chance. The book’s easy style makes puzzles like the Monty Hall problem fun and clear. It has simple examples-like the matchbox puzzle and basic martingales-and hands-on exercises. Answers in the back let you try each problem before checking the solution. Later chapters touch on ideas like information theory and Brownian motion in a simple way. You get exact math and simple computer demos in both Mathematica and Python. My students grew more confident with every chapter. If you want a friendly and clear introduction to probability, this book is the best.

There's a recurring issue on many @LenovoThinkPad laptops where the system hangs at boot, preventing OS access—only affecting Windows. On the same hardware, Debian/Linux boots cleanly, suggesting a firmware-level obstruction affecting Windows bootloaders, not GRUB.
