Control on the invisible border is based on available administrations of exporters and importers. Countries like Switzerland and the Netherlands have this system and it works fine.

An Irish invisible land border is still possible using inland clearance away from the border where goods are loaded and unloaded. Existing laws and IT are available. If EU and UK agree we can start tomorrow.

UK customs should trust its traders and intermediaries and give them simplification permissions. Trust and control. Invite foreign customs intermediairies to invest in th UK to boost capacity and innovation. Only in that way can the UK deal with the huge increase in customs.

The UK needs to reform its customs system fundamentally to accommodate the huge increase after Brexit. More inland clearance for efficiency. More one step clearance for effective risk control.
