WIC Quiz Bowl today at IKM. The team of Rector, Madsen, Shearer, Schurman made it as far as the semi-finals. The team of Wilkie, Kenny, Magill, Saar made it to the championship and lost by 1 question. All 9th/10th graders on this year’s teams, so TONS of potential in the future.

Are Double Stuf Oreos actually double stuffed? Are Mega Oreos triple? Quadruple? Chemistry set out to answer those questions today with a percent composition lab. They created their own procedure, gathered data, and wrote a full lab report. A fun way to end 1st semester.

Biology discovered how microscopes work. They rotated through 8 stations, making observations and guessing what they were seeing. 🔬 🧬

Chemistry explored what happens to electrons of specific elements when they gain and loose energy in the classic flame test today.🔥 🎆

Missing something? Our forensic science students can probably find it! Today we practiced different search patterns that investigators use at crime scenes.

We were in the lab exploring in all three classes today. Forensics practiced searching a crime scene and triangulating evidence, chemistry explored isotope masses, and biology investigated enzymes and factors that impact their performance.

Biology and chemistry were in the lab today. Bio explored surface tensions with water droplets on pennies and chemistry investigated the signs of a chemical reaction.
