🚨Road Closure🚨
Hanson Fire responded to a crash involving a commercial vehicle that struck a utility pole on Elm Street. Due to damage to the pole and overhead wires, Elm Street will be closed for a period of time while crews make repairs.
No serious injuries were reported.
Tonight, FF Jeffrey Meyers was officially sworn into the Hanson Fire Department during the Select Board meeting. FF Meyers, a Hanson native, completed his one-year probation and the rigorous Massachusetts Firefighting Academy recruit training program. Congratulations FF Meyers.

On February 19, 1965 while responding to a fire in the city of Brockton a Hanson Engine was involved in a collision enroute, killing FFs James R. Craig and Thomas W. Lovett, seriously injuring several firefighters.

Hanson Fire Dept Responds to Brush Fire on Elm St.
Today, Chief O’Brien reports that Hanson Fire, along with crews from Halifax, Pembroke, and Whitman, quickly contained a 2-acre brush fire on Elm St. near the Burrage Conservation Area.
The Hanson Fire Dept regrets to announce the passing of Chief Allen Hoyt (Retired). Chief Hoyt joined Hanson Fire in June 2001 and retired in May 2007. Prior to Hanson, he was a member of Plymouth Fire. His leadership, kindness, and devotion to the community will be deeply missed
The Hanson Fire Department has been deployed twice this past week as part of a forestry task force, assisting in extensive brush fires in Canton and Middleton. Our Forest Fire 1 responded to both incidents, with Chief O’Brien serving as the team leader in Middleton.
The NWS has issued a Red Flag Warning for the Town of Hanson, indicating high fire danger. Effective immediately, all outdoor fires are prohibited, including cooking fires. This restriction will remain in place for the next several days to help ensure the safety of our community.
Yesterday, the Hanson Fire Department and Administrative Assistant Annmarie Bouzan hosted the first Southeast Regional Fire Department Administrative Association meeting.

On Friday, the Hanson Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle vs. pedestrian on Franklin Street. Upon arrival, crews found the patient suffering from significant trauma, Boston MedFlight airlifted the patient to a trauma center in Boston for further treatment.
At last nights select board meeting, Firefighters Colby Silva and Dan McKale were officially sworn into the Hanson Fire Department. We are proud to have them on board!
The Hanson Fire Department will be hosting an Informational Meeting tomorrow night (Sept 6), starting at 6pm.
Context will be presenting results of the feasibility study for the Fire Headquarters. This meeting is open to the public and all are encouraged to join.
We extend our gratitude to all the emergency personnel for their swift and coordinated efforts in containing the fire and ensuring the safety of the residents.
