Just want to mention (again!) what an inspiring athlete Dot McMahan of @HansonsDistProj is. In February, 2024 she finished her 5th Olympic Trials Marathon, and last Saturday she won the #Crim10Mile for the 2nd straight year in 55:48.

That's 5:35/mi pace for a 48 year-old woman.

Our sport is presented all wrong. We tend to focus on just the pro side of things or just the community runners. Both approaches are wrong.
Keep in mind that our sport has greater diversity and larger household income than nearly every other sport.
Leaders must relate to both.

30 second advertisement for the Super Bowl has a cost of 7 to 8 million dollars.

Half that dollar amount could dominate the eyes of our sport. The Reach & Engagement Metrics could be much greater if done correctly.

HS coaches need to be very careful in the first few weeks back.
Injuries are not because you are running them too much.
Most injuries are a result of the difference between what the athlete tells you they’ve been running and actual mileage.

The first Wednesday of the month
@HansonsRunShop
helps a local charity. We host a timed 5k with proceeds and donations going to that charity. This months recipient The Agape Project purchases chairs and provides racers to push disabled folks that have never been in a race.

It’s 8:30 am on Monday April 14th.

One week from now.
All buses will have arrived in Hopkinton. This small quiet town will have transformed into a busy buzzing running Mecca. Even spectators will feel anxious for what lies ahead.

In 1980 I hated the fact that he made the decision to boycott the Olympics and felt that I would never respect him.

This is not a political post.
We got lucky.
For the first time in 34 years we will not be involved in the @FreepMarathon expo. On Friday the Expo will be sharing the facility with a Donald Trump Rally.
It sounds like a logistical nightmare.
