A reminder that Rep Underwood has passed nearly two dozen pieces of legislation — many more than her colleagues who get much more media attention. She is a rising star in the Democratic Party.
Seriously??? How long do we need to say race is a social construct. 😢 let’s improve healthcare. No one should die or suffer disability needlessly #notonmywatch
A new study shows that hundreds of thousands more Black people in the U.S. would qualify for a lung disease diagnosis and disability payments if lung-function measurements weren’t adjusted for race https://t.co/2SpHMZJSn5

Whether we call it a crisis or a tipping point doesn’t matter to me. What matters and is vitally important is intentionality to prioritize the health, dignity and safety of the birthing community. #notonmywatch
There is a maternal health crisis occurring across America, and it is disproportionately taking the lives of Black, Native, and rural mothers.
@POTUS and I are taking historic action to tackle this crisis with the urgency it demands.
Congratulations to @SynovaAssociate for another amazing Perinatal Leadership Forum. I’m so thankful to be able to present as well as enjoy the speakers, network with colleagues and make new friends 💜💜💜
Super proud to have contributed to this amazing work with @verobarce and the rest of the authors. Let’s change the narrative and embrace respectful, supportive and loving communication.
The authors provide concrete examples of the way language is used in medical documentation and discussion that can empower patients or perpetuate bias. https://t.co/HFiajs5Mnb @hapiOBRN @verobarce
How amazing is this??? Congratulations Dr.Scott! Here’s to creating safe and sacred spaces for birthing people, families and communities. #notonmywatch
OMG!! Guess who obtained IRB approval from @IV4RJOfficial, the first reproductive justice organization to have an Institutional Review Board (IRB), & the only reproductive justice-centered IRB recognized by the Office for Human Research Protections (HHS).

Super excited to be with so many advocates working towards the same goals: safe, equitable, sacred & joyful births, healthy babies and thriving families #momnibus#notonmywatch
I don’t think people realize how wealthy people live. Yacht owners have staff on call, including a chef, just to be available when they feel like getting on their toy boat. A Walmart grandkid has a $300M boat docked at an island and when she decides to take the boat out, nearly all the fuel available on the island is used to fill it. Our fiscal problems are not due to 54 year old people on food stamps not working, our debt is due to too many billionaires not paying their fair share.
There’s so much we can do to eradicate maternal morbidity and mortality: extend and Medicaid coverage. Birthing people need insurance for a minimum of a year after birth! Reimburse Doulas, and Lactation consultants. Oh and how about 12 weeks paid leave!
The U.S. has the highest maternal mortality rate of any industrialized country. The majority of these deaths occur after delivery and a full 30% occur between 6 weeks to one year postpartum - the baby’s first birthday.
