Thune claimed the talking filibuster “hasn’t been used in a century.”

Mike Lee corrected the record immediately:

It was used to break the weeks-long filibuster against the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Senators closed a 30-vote cloture deficit by forcing the opposition to actually show up and keep talking.

Lee’s point is simple:

All it takes is a Majority Leader willing to put the SAVE America Act on the floor and keep the Senate in session until it passes. If the other side doesn’t show up to talk, call the question and pass it with a simple majority.

No more excuses. The tool exists. The only thing missing is the will to use it.

Cancel the recess. Stay in Washington. Work the votes. Use every available procedural path—standalone, amendments, reconciliation, or otherwise—until the bill is delivered to the President’s desk. Ordinary citizens do not get to clock out when the job is unfinished. Neither do you.
