Let your children complete tasks (start to finish) on their own, imperfectly.
If and when you observe them doing something wrong that will not harm anyone, let them. This is how they will learn. They may not learn on the first try, and that’s OK. Better for it to take longer for them to learn than for them to do it perfectly every time only because you are feeding them every command. That's not a skill learned.
My two oldest children made these double chocolate muffins. You can see they learned a lesson in muffin batter distribution. After tasting these muffins, I told my daughter and son that they tasted better now than when I made them. I meant it! Their faces beamed with delight.
Last night, we figured out that my daughter used baking powder instead of baking soda like the recipe calls for. I knew they tasted more fudgy than usual! This confirmed for me that being a little “hands-off” as a mom can add both playfulness and fun to our family life.
Recipe below. They are a great breakfast addition or quick snack and satisfy that chocolate craving. Try them!
Mothers, I humbly urge you to consider spending the first several hours of your day off of your phones. Between making breakfast, helping your husband get out the door on time, homeschooling, doing chores, caring for toddlers and babies, etc., you don’t need to know about the rest of the world’s drama. There is plenty of that in front of you!
Strive for this to be present with your children, to strengthen your nervous system, and to have the capacity to manage stress better.
I have found that wearing an analog timepiece helps me not to check my phone for the time and then succumb to “popcorn brain,” where I’m adding items to the weekly grocery list or checking Amazon to order that fun homeschooling item my kids will love.
None of us are perfect at this, but it is a discipline that can grow if we have the will to develop the muscle.
Yes! So many brides before me said make sure you eat and I thought, that’s silly. I’ll grab something when I get hungry, but it is not as easy when you’re the center of attention for the day. We ended up ordering a pizza late that night, so it’ll work out whatever way it happens 😊 Praying for you guys!! Almost there 😍
Remind your children today that God is both good and faithful no matter what struggles they face.
More importantly, live like He is through the struggles you face as an example for them to follow.
@BooksTiffany Most drugstores have Xclear. There’s a daily spray too so make sure to get this one. They look similar! And the sinus calm we get from Amazon or Target, though I have seen them at drugstores before. Just not at every one
