China's state-owned planemaker, Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), is expanding its production facilities in Shanghai for its domestically developed C919 jets. The project contractor, China Aviation Planning and Design Institute (AVIC-CAPDI), announced on its WeChat account in April that it had secured the contract for the second phase of the C919 batch production capacity construction project. The C919 is a large passenger aircraft developed by COMAC to compete with Boeing and Airbus in the commercial aviation market. The project's second phase will focus on increasing the production capacity for the aircraft.
