“Flights of Fancy”
In a reality that flows without order, most people move forward to a predetermined rhythm. Yet deep down, those flights of fancy are something uniquely our own — a burst held in check by restraint.
Set against a backdrop of Chill R&B / Urban Pop, “Flights of Fancy” carries a laid-back urban groove. Moving to an unscripted rhythm, it sways at a frequency all its own, completely unbinding senses that have been repeatedly recalibrated by schedules and streams of information.
Warm, vintage electric piano lays the foundation, accented by playful synth tones, while looping vocal samples and ethereal reverb sketch out a quiet, slightly cool private space for solitude. The groove surges beneath the surface, the drums like a train passing in the middle of the night. After a hectic few days of running around, I finally made it home safe and sound. 😮‍💨

This repo might be a little different from the ones other Xiao Fei Xia have shared.

This time, I went to Hong Kong with my younger brother to see Xiao Zhan. On the day of the event, we arrived early in the morning to queue. At first, we waited inside the mall, but later we heard that Xiao Zhan wouldn’t be entering the mall, and eventually the mall was cleared out as well.

After that, my brother and I went our separate ways. I continued waiting for Xiao Zhan somewhere else. By then, I was honestly already feeling pretty lost, and deep down I knew that with how things were going, I probably wasn’t going to see Xiao Zhan that day. 😭💔

It wasn’t until the event ended that evening that I finally met up with my brother again at the entrance. And then he told me he had actually followed a group of Xiao Fei Xia dressed in red to L*land and queued with them!

My first reaction was literally: “Huh??? You actually managed to get in? 😳”

And he said yes!

He didn’t get to see Xiao Zhan in person either, but he told me he had managed to film the screen. I thought he meant one of Xiao Zhan’s advertising screens. It wasn’t until we got back to the hotel that I realized the event that night had actually been shown on the big screen, and Xiao Zhan could actually be seen on the big screen.

Then my brother said to me,

“You came all this way and got there so early. It would’ve been such a shame if you ended up with no videos at all.”

And hearing that just made me 🥹🥹🥹

My brother took several videos of the screen for me, and you could still see Zhan Zhan pretty clearly. Maybe they weren’t from the perfect angle, the closest distance, or in the highest quality—but none of that could take away from just how handsome Zhan Zhan looked that night. 😭😭😍😍

I actually hesitated for quite a while about whether I should write this repo. But then I thought… there’s no rule saying a repo has to be about “seeing Xiao Zhan with your own eyes,” right?

I may not have gotten to see him in person this time, but having those videos of Xiao Zhan that my brother took especially for me became one of the most touching parts of this entire trip. 😭❤️❤️

My brother also told me, “Xiao Fei Xia are seriously so patient. Everyone waited for such a long time, but no one made a scene or kept complaining about being tired. Everyone just patiently waited for Xiao Zhan to arrive.”

Hearing that from someone who isn’t even a Xiao Fei Xia somehow made me smile. So this is what we look like through someone else’s eyes. 🥹🥹

All in all, this trip to see Xiao Zhan still left me happy and touched. Even though I didn’t get to see him with my own eyes this time, what matters most is that I came home with no regrets. ❤️❤️❤️

Zhan Zhan, I hope next time, when the timing is just right, I’ll finally get to see you again. 🥹❤️
