An excellent project on one of my favourite rivers which I am ecstatic to be involved with - looking forward to the data & map making. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has" Margaret Mead
Introducing our amazing group of local #CitizenScience volunteers who're working on a #waterquality monitoring project on the Wensum headwaters, on behalf of the Wensum Catchment Partnership #teamwork 🤩🧪👌
De-silting vs Dredging.
They're not the same thing!
Isolating a section of river to remove excesss fine silt and restore natural channel dimensions and habitat. #river#restoration#ChalkStream#conservation
Will Hancock grazed the fields below the Bawsey ruins & allowed it to flood every year creating a series of large lakes. The @GaywoodRiver always ran clear its my opinion that the change of use of the fields to intensive farming has encouraged the @The_WMA to increase maintenance
Phosphate check & 1.28😱on healthy #ChalkStreams I’m looking for 0.04-0.02 This massive dose of Phosphate is coating the riparian plants in Algae scum excluding the light +coats the gravel bedDerby Fen SSSI @EnvAgencyAnglia @AnglianWater low flow concentrates the pollutants

A little late in posting this clip, but it does show you more on the concerning issue of the lack of weed that others, such as @RussellB1ggs, have been attempting to highlight in the past week or so. Are you coming to investigate @EnvAgencyAnglia?
#PIP
The vile & toxic DWP are sending out a horrific survey asking disabled people how they spend their PIP money
1. DWP have no legal right to ask & you have no legal obligation to fill it in
2. if you send a letter of opposition tell them what you think of their vile cuts
New EA figures reveal that pollution from @AnglianWater into the Gaywood is actually getting worse. In recent years CSOs discharged raw sewage into the river an average of 266 times. In 2024 this rose to 350 times. @Feargal_Sharkey@WATERSHED_i@OSennitt
More coverage on our fight to protect the Gaywood River from polluters via @bbcnews. Once again, an investigation shuttered without any reasonable answers. So, what exactly IS going on...? #news#rivers https://t.co/XLarpA1d9B @Feargal_Sharkey
This river has my heart, it has vast potential for restoration but without protection it will be money down the drain. It's history is truly incredible, traces of every archaeological period are present within its valley. #loveariver
On #InternationalDayOfActionForRivers we would like to thank all the people that continue to support us in our quest to offer the Gaywood better protections, as we look to change the fortunes of this rare river of chalk stream ecology.
Good news that Treasury won’t be getting hands on water company fines.
Should also incentivise EA to prosecute at every opportunity. No more enforcement undertakings.

🤔4 days on & still doesn’t appear that @EnvAgencyAnglia has tested for pollution🤷♂️Phosphate 17.5 using a High range tester 0.03 is the target for a healthy #ChalkStream Ammonia 2.14 target 0.04 Why are @AnglianWater being allowed to do this ? #SewageScandal 💩🧻@OSennitt
