Abstract

Aluminum is an experimentally demonstrated neurotoxin and the most commonly used vaccine adjuvant. Despite almost 90 years of widespread use of aluminum adjuvants, medical science’s understanding about their mechanisms of action is still remarkably poor. There is also a concerning scarcity of data on toxicology and pharmacokinetics of these compounds. In spite of this, the notion that aluminum in vaccines is safe appears to be widely accepted. Experimental research, however, clearly shows that aluminum adjuvants have a potential to induce serious immunological disorders in humans. In particular, aluminum in adjuvant form carries a risk for autoimmunity, long-term brain inflammation and associated neurological complications and may thus have profound and widespread adverse health consequences. In our opinion, the possibility that vaccine benefits may have been overrated and the risk of potential adverse effects underestimated, has not been rigorously evaluated in the medical and scientific community.

Twelve days after a Senate committee referred Anthony Fauci for possible criminal prosecution, the WHO quietly announced that Sir Jeremy Farrar is leaving. The WHO calls it retirement. Insiders call it something else.

Farrar's exit matters because of what he did on January 31, 2020. Hours after a scientist emailed Fauci that the new virus "looked engineered," Fauci convened a secret call with handpicked virologists. Farrar helped arrange it, telling Fauci two scientists would "help frame the discussions." Days later, that group produced "Proximal Origin," the paper that declared the virus was "not a laboratory construct" and shaped years of public debate.

A congressional memo states the paper's lead author said it was "prompted" by three men: Fauci, Francis Collins, and Farrar.

I have published sixty posts this year on money, unions, energy, consultants and political disclosure. This week I found the sentence that connects all of them.

When APRA wanted union super fund payments examined, it did not examine them. It required the funds to commission independent reviews. BUSSQ hired KPMG, which found the payments sound. Cbus hired Deloitte, which could not conclude whether they met the statutory best-interests duty.

When the CFMEU needed investigating in July 2024, the union's own lawyers engaged Geoffrey Watson SC. The union, investigating itself, through counsel it chose and paid. His inquiry was later curtailed after threats. His word for it was capitulation.

When KPMG needed investigating, KPMG engaged Ashurst, then Allens. The scope was set by a subcommittee of KPMG's own board. Fourteen interviews, no whistleblower, no clients, no email search. It cleared the firm. One email later proved otherwise.

Then the Department of Finance appointed Dr Ian Watt to review the reviewer.

Look at who audits whom. Stannards audits the training centre and the union division that centre pays. In Queensland, PKF audits a fund and the union receiving its money. EY audits one super fund, BDO does its internal audit, KPMG did the regulator-ordered review, Deloitte did the benchmarking. Four firms, every side of every table.

And each of the bodies that could intervene told Parliament it could not. ASIC said it needs powers to act against large accounting firms rather than individual auditors. Chartered Accountants ANZ said it is a private membership body, powerless to impose punitive fines. KPMG International said it could not compel the Australian partnership.

The steelman is real and it is not weak. Regulators cannot audit everything. Commissioned reviews put expert eyes on a problem quickly. There are only so many firms with the capability, so overlap is inevitable. And Treasury has now released options for licensing large firms and separating audit from consulting.

Sit with the pattern anyway, because it is the same one in every post I write. The party classifies its own receipt. The agency reports its own advertising. The fund commissions its own reviewer. The firm scopes its own investigation.

In every case the form is filled in correctly by the person with the most reason to fill it in a particular way. And the body that could check has no power, no jurisdiction, or no appetite.

I studied in the academic department at Cambridge that later employed Jason Arday. Here's just some of the crap I learnt: For one module, I wrote a lengthy essay about how cultural products like kids’ cartoons and jazz songs serve as instruments of capitalist oppression. I got a top mark on that paper (despite knowing at the time that I was essentially regurgitating complete crap).

While studying for another paper I had a debate with the professor, an eminent anthropologist, because she insisted that native tribes could fly through the trees - not metaphorically, but that they could literally fly because they believed they could fly. After all, who are we to question ‘indigenous ways of knowing’...

For a different course, I read long ‘research papers’ which argued that the fact that black kids are excluded from schools more than white kids proves systemic racism exists in education. Crucially, they ignored the fact that white kids are excluded more than, e.g., Japanese kids, a statistic which, applying the exact same logic, would suggest that the education system is systemically biased in favour of, erm, Japanese kids (which obviously it isn’t).

Something that was held up as proof of the existence of this largely imaginary racism was that teachers tell kids not to use booming voices in the classroom, and not to put up their hoods or wear their trousers down below their pants.

On another occasion, my supervisor casually praised some students agitators who were trying to shut down a talk by someone they disagreed with. I said that I didn’t think this was something to celebrate, because I believed in freedom of speech. He got visibly angry, and proceeded to tell me that free speech was not worth protecting in a capitalist system (or something along those lines).

In my all-important final year, a lecturer let me know that I shouldn’t worry too much about my exam results, because as someone who was not from an upper class background I should be more focussed on using my grasp of leftist revolutionary theory to further the interests of the proletariat. Writing this down, it strikes me that it’s so hilariously mental that some of you will presumably assume I’m lying. But there’s no way I’m leaving it out, because it happened.

Unlike the academics who make a living from this stuff, I couldn’t bring myself to build a career pumping out whiney, divisive, intellectually incoherent rubbish. But others, as we’ve seen exposed in recent days, do so with gusto. And are lauded for it.
