Pierre Talvard, the owner of Haras du Cadran, is one of the rare true rags to riches stories in the racing world: someone who genuinely started from scratch and made it to the top. He began by buying mares with a bank loan that had been granted for heifers. For years, he lived in a caravan and, one winter, short of money, sent his children to their grandparents because he could no longer feed them. After decades of hard work, he managed to buy hundreds of hectares and bred exceptional horses such as CONSTITUTION RIVER, QEMAH, THE GREY GATSBY, LEFFARD, PUCHKINE, PRETTY GORGEOUS and MARIANAFOOT.
