🧵 Why do our smartest institutions keep failing?
The problem isn’t bad data.
It’s a broken lens.
Experts think the world is linear and siloed.
But it’s not.
It’s complex, interconnected, and full of surprises.
Let’s break it down 👇
@GuthmannR Marx’ parents lamented his laziness. His own kids literally starved to death - in the midst of the British Industrial Revolution - as he begged Engels for money constantly rather than find work others found abundantly. I don’t want to know what he “knew.”
@cafreiman These people are retarded. They think value is a fixed quantity that needs to be ‘allocated’ therefore others are stealing what they could have otherwise. It’s just faulty reasoning given faux moral superiority.
Divide and conquer is always a workable strategy. And if you had to trust only one political team to take over and make things function, it’s the right over the left, every time. Bc that way the engine - the economy - keeps running and you can adapt the rest as long as that keeps on. The left seizes up the motor as a first act and then points fingers.
@LynAldenContact But look at total wealth in material terms? It has skyrocketed despite this. We have more and better houses, roads, transport, time saving machinery, info systems - this seems a tiny if not negligible cost.
@honestpollster Power law distribution of outcomes. You don’t injure those because you think they should be more of a bell curve. The outliers pull the floor higher for everyone.
@Noahpinion It’s not that simple. The more individuals identify as a group, the easier they make it to use that as a signal. The more they act as individuals, the harder they make it.
@DrDiGiorgio These people just say shit to that enables their preordained conclusions to feature. Look at any medical procedure people pay for out of pocket not via some third party and it’s cheaper than a decade ago.
