#EDST1160U- Becky’s message to me is that making connections online can definitely make your online presence bigger and better. It can create opportunities that may not have been available before, and like for Becky, can create a new career to get you to meet new people.
#EDST1160u -I have a LinkedIn account from when I was in high-school.. I’m 27 now. Finally just deleted it .. but everyday I still get “views”. Just goes to show how your online presence or profile can stick with you forever.
@HMajeed99 I like your perspective on this! I agree, I think she was painting social media in a more positive light then it often is. Often, social media is described as “ toxic”. However, many people build their connections, share their experiences and create jobs from the social platform!
@MsReyes1586 I somewhat agree that it’s all on one’s own hands. But dating websites or social media as a whole, requires you to add pictures/videos of yourself. The intent is to meet people but you can copy and paste ones identity very easily and create a new fake version of you. #risky
@__vithushan I like the link you shared, super helpful. Especially for those who are unaware of the consequences of having information leaked or stolen👍🏼
You can protect your information online by making sure, if you have the option to, click “ private “ or having difficult passwords to crack that only you would know! I know that using your name in a password is never the right option as many hackers would guess that right away!
#EDST1160 - It is important to be aware if the information you are sharing is public or private because as we know, once something is uploaded to the internet it’s pretty much there forever!
Once something is uploaded online it can follow you into your future both positively Or negatively. This can impact your family, friends, strangers and even your career!
