Managed to get out into the chill clear air of the late afternoon. A few songbirds still chirruping. 2 bright planets, the lower to the right, green & twinkly, the upper to the left, rusty gold. Together they almost pointed at the silver-white half-moon. Thanks for such wonders.
Symphony For Candlemas-eve was performed at exactly this date & time 45 years ago, conducted by Duncan Fraser, thanks to all the wonderful musicians and to Stella for designing the poster/leaflets. Epic day, dark windy night. Here's to light in the darkness. #hardycomposer
So exciting. 30+ performances of work by [mainly] graduating composition students over three days. 6-8 May, all at RWCMD - next weekend. https://t.co/PTFXSLo1Ed

@JLewSings You are absolutely right. Covid happened because God found out that there were going to be three completely separate brand new productions of Fidelio in the UK in 2020, using up half of all public arts funding - because there was a round number since Beethoven's birth.
The concert sounded great on Radio 3 this evening. I heard Ryan Bancroft saying that Composition Wales is on again next year, & that the deadline for scores is 19th November. Or was that 29th Nov? I can't find any reference to the new project on the internet. Time is short, Help!
Tonight on @BBCRadio3! 📻
Catch our recent Season Opening Concert, conducted by Ryan Bancroft 🎶
Featuring Composer-in-Association @gavhiggins' Rough Voices, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No 4 with soloist Eric Lu, and Sibelius’ Symphony No 2.

Chilling evidence about how social media companies suppress the good, the gentle, the normal, but pump up & reward the angry, the untrue, the provocative. FB employees who don't hit traffic targets risk losing their jobs. Surely this must change... #calmtheworlddown
Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen says political parties have been quoted in Facebook’s own research saying they know Facebook changed its algorithm and “now if [they] don't publish angry, hateful, polarizing… content,” there’s less engagement. https://t.co/XKKBhxZZ36
BTW I'm really enjoying the Manchester Collective Mixtape playlist on the Southbank Centre site. Delightful variety, as you'd expect, emotionally powerful and high quality. They are playing Purcell Room soon - book early, it's bound to sell out quickly. https://t.co/6OfEwJhskK
It's such a thrill to hear The Midsummer Marriage by Tippett live from the Festival Hall on Radio 3. It's been decades since I listened all the way through the vinyl LPs. Performance is thrilling, LPO, Edward Gardner, so vivid with deep authentic emotions and huge musical ideas.
Back then, they really knew how to film high quality performances in a simple studio setting didn't they? Such powerful, confident, universal visual and sonic messaging. It looks like multi-camera, but surely that was not possible?
The platform we are on will not allow me to befriend more than five thousand people and organisations. Please excuse me if I 'un' -friend some of my connections, to make space for new links I need to follow for professional reasons. No disrespect intended.
@leonbosch@JasperDommett Hello Leon. I have been very much enjoying your talks on YouTube. And always love your playing. Your question about Wood suggests there is a lot more to tell... - Are you willing to share more? Thanks, from one of your respectful admirers.
