The FA of Malaysia (FAM) took a major step towards reform after its Congress accepted AFC-proposed amendments to its statutes, as honarary president Tan Sri Hamidin Amin keeps his options open over a possible return as president.

An Asian Football Confederation audit finds FAM had been operating outside its statutes for more than a decade, with governance, finance, risk management and administrative functions receiving some of the lowest audit scores. https://t.co/2l6DDLbwYm

One thing that @FAM_Malaysia can quickly fix - allow access to ALL media (especially those with accreditation cards by @JPenerangan) to attend press conferences & events. @MFL_MY should do the same as well.
Putrajaya, esp @KBSMalaysia, and sponsors must read AFC's audit into the FA of Malaysia in detail and ask themselves if the millions of Ringgit they have "invested" into the national body have been worth it.
The findings are damning.
Don't be fooled by the suits and ties.
AFC's audit reveals, among many others:
Fear-based culture suppresses staff from escalating concerns.
Authority informally concentrated at the top, bypassing formal mandates & reporting lines.
“FAM's dysfunction is systematic, not departmental..”

Lesson from the naval weapons sales saga between Norway and Malaysia extends to Asean: Strategic self-reliance is no longer optional but imperative in a world where even binding contracts can be voided by geopolitical calculations, writes Bilveer Singh.

Adakah FAM akan bersetuju dengan statut baharu AFC?!🚨

The AFC audit and the draft statute are designed to clean house and rebuild the shattered integrity of FAM’s governance. In Malaysian political jargon, one could call it the “reset“, “ubah” or “reformasi” stakeholders, and fans seek.

In modern football, there is no place for honorary presidents. FAM does not need another title that will cause a massive dilemma, similar to the decades-long scenario within Malaysia’s legal system that allows former judges to practise law.
Some still wonder how a sitting judge feels when a senior or former mentor is at the counsel table.
Similarly, how would a president react when a former president still makes his presence felt in Wisma FAM?

What if the FA of Malaysia's Congress decides not to adopt the recommended statute by the Asian Football Confederation? That could see AFC and Fifa handing FAM the red card, similar to what happened to the Pakistan Football Federation.
