Today marked the opening of the Commission on the Status of Women 70th Session (#CSW70) at the @UN Headquarters in New York. On this occasion, the JWF, in partnership with the @NYCBarAssn, convened a side event titled Ensuring Women's Access to Justice and Addressing Structural Barriers.
The session was opened by Mehmet Kilic, President, JWF, who welcomed participants and underlined the importance of safeguarding women’s rights and reinforcing the rule of law at a time when women in public life, including those in politics, journalism, the judiciary, and civil society, continue to face discrimination, harassment, and systemic barriers.
The discussion brought together a distinguished panel of speakers including Sophia Murashkovsky, Melissa Benavides Vílquez, @ProfKobia , @AndreaJilBarron@TASSCintl and Yveline Dalmacy, who shared perspectives from legal, academic, and advocacy contexts. The conversation highlighted the continuing challenges women face in accessing justice and emphasized the importance of strengthening inclusive legal frameworks, accountability mechanisms, and international cooperation to address structural barriers and advance gender equality.

PANEL DISCUSSION | World Interfaith Harmony Week
Religious Freedom in Pluralistic Societies
Collective Responsibility in Countering Discrimination, Hate, and Intolerance @wihw
📅 February 10, 2026⏰ 11:00 AM (EST)
Around the world, societies are increasingly facing religious intolerance, discrimination, hate speech, and identity-based polarization. These challenges affect not only individuals, but entire communities, and they call for collective reflection and action.
While journalists and writers help shape public narratives, the responsibility to protect religious freedom and promote mutual respect belongs to all of us. Families, educators, faith communities, civil society, policymakers, and citizens play a vital role in fostering inclusion through everyday interactions and public dialogue.
Convened by the JWF, this panel discussion will explore how religious freedom can be upheld in diverse societies, and how empathy, dialogue, and ethical engagement can help counter discrimination and intolerance.
