The length and affordability of a commute is one of the most significant factors for young people remaining in #education...

@RACostantini9 I left my Senior Lecturer position and moved into an EdTech start-up. Best decision I ever made! I felt like I was a failure for leaving Academia but I really feel my dedication and hard work is recognised and rewarded in my new role. It’s definitely worth it, even if it’s scary!
@DrErinWill @RR_Cotter @smbrander@PhDVoice@thephdstory@PhDForum I do the same - I have my maiden name (Lowe) legally observed on my passport but my married name officially for houses/bills/accounts. I use my maiden name professionally without any trouble (mostly!).

Despite retweeting this relatively recently, all achievements I’ve made, happiness, motivation and enthusiasm has been shattered by a rejected manuscript. Why do we do this to ourselves?
@seburnt@tedxlondon A short term goal could be getting out of bed, or having dinner, or teaching a class! One of the key points I’ve got from this talk is celebrating every success of every goal and not just identifying the goals that society celebrates.
Are you successful? Or are you just burning yourself out? A relatable talk from Talia Grantham considering redefining success. Doing more does not equal “success” - success should be less related to society’s expectation and more about our own personal aims and goals.
@seburnt Talia mentioned defining success through 3 pillars - 1) values and principles, 2) long term goals and 3) short term goals. I would highly recommend listening to this @tedxlondon talk once it becomes available online to define these. Talia provides some great goals to reflect on.
Danny Kelly from @VodafoneUK sharing the incredible potential of 5G today @tedxlondon - “5G is quicker than the human central nervous system” such huge potential for the future of tech!
What a powerful speech from @Noga_LR - their message of action against climate change is something we should all be shouting about! #ClimateAction#ClimateEmergency
I cannot do @SlashQueer ‘s incredibly inspiring talk “What is in a gender?” justice in a single quote! Please follow Georgie for their insightful comments on the rigid gender system the UK has unnecessarily enforced.
