We are a family owned and operated marine business that has been serving the Rice Lake region Since 1947. We sell and service Legend Boats and Mercury Motors
Mary found a time capsule: a 1996 marine industry price sheet. Marine shop labour back then? $59/hour. A full season of dockage for a small boat? $656.50.
Which 1996 price would you bring back tomorrow?

Held a funeral on the bench this weekend.

Some kids grew up at hockey rinks. I grew up at a marina.
That's me, ~1981, parked behind the desk at Harris Boat Works like I had anywhere else to be.
My dad grew up here too. Now my kids are doing the same thing.
Last week of April. Keys on the board, shrink-wrap coming off, phones ringing. This team doesn't stop. Small marina, everyone does everything. To every person at Harris Boat Works. Thank you. Now let's get back to work. #MarineServiceTechWeek#HarrisBoatWorks#RiceLake
Liam joined HBW in 2019. Came in young, became part of the place. Always learning, always good for a laugh. Plays guitar outside the shop. Patient enough to learn something hard and stick with it. Great young man. Liam, keep at it. #MarineServiceTechWeek#HarrisBoatWorks
Randy has been telling people the truth about their boats since 1989. Came up as a mechanic, now runs service. No sugarcoating. No runaround. 37 years earns you the right to speak plainly. He's as much a part of this place as the docks. #MarineServiceTechWeek#HarrisBoatWorks
Ryan's been with HBW since 2006. Rigs new boats, does whatever we throw at him. Last name's Gough. A hotel check-in in Mexico called him Señor Gooch that year and it stuck. Twenty years later, still Gooch. We're lucky to have him. #MarineServiceTechWeek#HarrisBoatWorks
Shea has been with Harris Boat Works since 2013. Stern drive specialist. Knows Mercruisers cold. Does a bit of everything. One of the loudest personalities in the shop. 12 years in and we're glad he stuck around. Thanks Shea. #MarineServiceTechWeek#HarrisBoatWorks
35 years ago, Graham Smith started here as a teenager.
He's our head technician, but "technician" undersells it. He's our engineer. When nobody can figure it out, we go ask Graham.
Most of his life spent on these docks. HBW would not be what it is without him.
Graham. Thanks
Ganaraska Conservation has issued a Flood Watch for Rice Lake through April 23. Water's 8cm above normal and rising ~5cm/day. Strong onshore winds this weekend — stay clear of shorelines, secure docks & lifts, and give it a week before launching.
1960. The Canteen at Harris Boat Works — hamburgers, ice cream, and every dog in Gores Landing. Ran it from the mid-'50s to '86. The Canteen's gone. The dogs are not. Wherever there's a Harris, there will be dogs.
