@MilkcartonWINS I’m easily irritated by sanctimonious bike tweets. But genuinely, even I think you entered the box junction when the exit was clear. Appeal, you are on the side of the angels here
This. Broadly speaking, if measured the same way, America had similar heat deaths as does Europe. But you’re mad as hell freedom-gun-children-slaughters are unique.
The rest of the world watches in horror as you brag about your right to own murder tools, and then bury your kids
@AlexLi98@HarveyH_FBPE I suggest you review the metric in heat deaths in US and Europe. You dont log them on death certificates instead heart attacks or whatever was the cause from the heat stress. You have more deaths, well done on being dense.

@volatilitysmile True, like all measures, it has weaknesses. But so does GDP per capita: America generates huge amounts of GDP, the benefit of which is confined to a very small number of ultra rich people.
@volatilitysmile You can call us poor all you want. You can ignore source-credited data all you want. Hell, you can pronounce yourself emperor of mars if it makes you happy. But facts remain facts
@volatilitysmile How does “weighted average” apply in this instance?
It’s OK - USA certainly generates a lot of value, no-one is denying that. But most Americans are a victim of this biased system… if you happen to be one of the wealthy ones that buck the US poverty trend then im pleased for you
@volatilitysmile You can noodle around the edges, and engage in whataboutism, but you were the one who stuck your head up to call Europeans poor. The data I shared, with source, suggests the opposite. Vexation and rhetoric might make you feel better - but you’ve just been found out
@volatilitysmile Ok. Then to answer: I suspect that many people in Luxembourg are wealthier than that. But not the ones who have lower wealth.
The numbers are the medians.
@volatilitysmile The median is a type of average - generally used for these types of analyses to remove the bias that a small number of multi-billionaires would otherwise have.
The mean average is higher in the US, but just because Elon lives there doesn’t make the rest of you well off
