Zack Polanski is "furious" at the home secretary's harsh new measures against asylum seekers.

Speaking on BBC Newsnight, the Green party leader compared Shabana Mahmood's proposals to the policies of Nazi Germany.

"This is extreme, this is inhumane and it is a government of cowards," he said.

"They went for the pensioners, they went for the disabled, and now they're going for people who are fleeing war and conflict."
