On cable news and in NRA videos, Miller claimed she faced down a violent intruder and a mob of 15 men in her driveway to promote her book Emily Gets Her Gun. But the actual police report exposed the lie: she simply left her door unlocked, and someone swiped her purse off the kitchen counter. There was no confrontation and no mob. Tellingly, Miller abruptly stopped cooperating with the police the second detectives started poking holes in her narrative and her story began to unravel.

When her blatant exaggerations were exposed, she found a perfect home at One America News Network (OANN) as their senior political correspondent. At OAN, a network built on hyper-partisan rhetoric, Miller’s brand of manufactured fear fit right in—proving that for her, a cinematic lie was always preferred over the mundane truth.
