Students and staff @pennerLRSD begin May recognising Asian Heritage Month. There are so many excellent books that celebrate the countries and cultures in the world’s largest continent.
Ss @pennerLRSD were sooo busy in February, we decided to hold our I Love to Read Month in April instead. As we gear up for a month of celebrating the gift of reading, many Ss and staff stopped to ask, “Are we having a party?” The response? “Of course!”
High 5s for Important and Influential Women from students @pennerLRSD. Famous women…teachers…EAs…library assistants - all celebrated with a simple maker activity to fill a bucket.
Ss @pennerLRSD@louis_riel_sd honour Amelia Earhart’s determination and bravery by building Lego airplanes (and a helicopter 😀). Simple maker activities that encourage critical thinking and creativity!
Students @hastingsLRSD@louis_riel_sd are using the new Lego wall in the Library Learning Commons to describe the positive influence women and girls have in this world. Simple maker ideas with a strong impact. Love it!
Getting ready for International Women’s Day and Month in March, @pennerLRSD is promoting the many roles girls and women have in a just and inclusive world. Roberta Bondar, Canadian astronaut, will be the person of importance on the Library bulletin board for the month!
Hopefully…an inquiry on how the brain perceives groups of objects…and possibly how animals camouflage themselves, has begun @pennerLRSD Who doesn’t like a good “I Spy”?!
It was a hit! Students in K to Gr. 8 @hastingsLRSD walked away with hundreds of books from our free giveaway today. Making room for the new in a win-win way. Love it! Special thanks to Mrs. Fowler for the very hard work of getting all these books ready!
Only the hoar frost exposed this intricate natural design.Tiny glimpses of beauty like this remind me that despite the apparent craziness of the world around us, we should always look for the https://t.co/xjBT2fZNUA’s there.Maybe hidden. But there all the same!
Finally, our first completed “Welcome to Hastings” panel @hastingsLRSD is hanging in the newly created entryway. More panels in various languages represented in the community to follow! And the view of the new outdoor Learning Circle is grand!
Ss @pennerLRSD have created used mask boxes for their classrooms. Discussions about recycling, conservation, endangered species…and even a little rabbit learning how to wear a mask properly. Active citizenship and delight at the same time!
Ss @pennerLRSD are learning about their brains. The more we know about how brains work, the better choices we can make for our learning…and for when we might need a deep breath or two to calm our thoughts!
Ss @pennerLRSD are committed to reconciliation. In pop art (and life!) a little bit becomes a whole lot when everyone works together! #reconciliationmatters
Students from @hastingsLRSD@louis_riel_sd will be using a critical eye to “read” these common tech app symbols. How many do you know? Are any “not right”? Happy reading!
