@LarsPollmann Potential downside is being stuck with a player that doesn't fit and whose salary prevents other moves (Nico Scholtz). There are times Can, Brandt, Dahoud, Wolf, and Hazard were in that category, but they ended up ok. Sometimes.
@KofmanMichael This happened in Dune, and the prisoners became the Empire’s best troops. What happened on other planets in a novel probably doesn’t tell us much here—but it’s social media, so I shared it anyway.
@Patricia_Sully A lawsuit has to be filed within a year of the agency's claim of exemption or last production. RCW 42.56.550(6). That might be a problem for follow-on suits.
@chasreidy @ericacbarnett Agree. But jail requires lawyers, judges, guards -- it's expensive and fails to change people. Maybe take half this list, give them housing and services, and see whether, in five years, that is more successful than jail?
@djeviestokes I don't have any hidden gems, but: Only Love Can Break Your Heart (St. Etienne), the Clash version of Police and Thieves, Nirvana's Love Buzz.
@djjohnrichards I am so sorry! It's hard to hold anger and compassion in the same heart. But you have taught us compassion for those suffering from mental health issues and chemical dependency. Many of those breaking windows are struggling with these issues.
@jseattle This is all so frustrating and I have complete sympathy, but is jail the answer if the majority of offenders are homeless and suffering from mental health issues? https://t.co/Pw3yzwhOi6
@scottjshapiro But that article is smart and serious and kinda hopeful. You asked how to be funny during war -- I was just trying to remind you that self-deprecating humor is usually a winner.
@leonardbenardo1@alanigolanski Interesting piece. I will note, however, that Lou-Dawg, as Althusser's friends and students called him, is not necessarily the poster child for abstention from interpersonal violence.
