It's not sci-fi or fantasy but this is one of the best 2000AD stories. John Wagner is one of the greatest comics writers there ever was, and Arthur Ranson is a flat-out genius. The story is pretty standard "Hitman tries to get out" stuff, but the execution (ahem) is sublime.
