@McgovarinJamie @patsharp There is no "official" start date for a season. There's different definitions. The most common and accepted definition is that the summer solstice (the longest day) on June 21st signals the start of Summer. Some say 1st of June. In Ireland it's 1st of May!

@matthewdmarsden It's the humidity. Opening the windows doesn't make a jot of difference on those hot sticky nights. Sometimes it's warmer outside than inside, which just draws warm air in. Don't think I've ever opened a window and suddenly felt cooler. Our buildings are designed to stay warm.
