You cannot claim “vote chori” on one hand and oppose the very process meant to verify, correct and update voter rolls on the other.

If the demand is truly for free and fair elections, then ensuring that voter lists are accurate, transparent and free from irregularities should be welcomed—not resisted.

A clean electoral process begins with a clean and verified voter list. Questioning the process without addressing the need for verification only exposes the contradiction.

As of now, the criterion is not numbers, but religion. Everyone except Hindus are/can be minorities.

For this reason, despite being numerical minorities in six states and three UTs, Hindus do not receive the benefits of minority affairs schemes in those states.

For example, in Lakshadweep, where 97% of the population is Muslim, they are considered minorities and get the benefits of minority affairs schemes, but the 2% Hindu population does not. The same situation exists in Kashmir.
